Community Outreach Supervisor

Salary: $56,409.60

Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, policies and procedures and recommends modifications. Supervises and coordinates community outreach activities and events.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

•Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
•Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
•Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures.
•Assists in planning, developing and implementing policies, procedures and programs.
•Solicits donations, grants, support and participation from businesses, neighborhood organizations, community agencies and groups to promote, develop and implement projects, events and programs.
•Provides technical assistance and instruction regarding operations, procedures, programs and activities.
•Assesses gaps in services, and develops strategies, goals, objectives, programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
•Attends meetings, and organizes and coordinates community outreach programs, projects and activities with agencies or departments to provide information, to publicize available services, and to maintain positive public relations.
•Prepares and distributes press releases, and schedules and coordinates public relations activities and public service announcements with radio and television stations and the media.
•Prepares and submits reports regarding activities and operations.
•Performs related work as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Science, Social Work or related discipline.
•Two (2) years of social work, social service, community service or resource development experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

•Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

•Must provide one's own source of transportation.
•Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION

Louisville Equitable Forest Initiative (LEFI) is a grant funded, multi-faceted approach to growing equitable urban canopy and encouraging holistic sustainability for underserved communities in Louisville. This includes a comprehensive inventory of Louisville’s public trees, new planting initiatives in underserved neighborhoods, community outreach initiatives encouraging environmental stewardship, and a workforce development program to train residents from underservedcommunities in green industry skills.
