Tree Technician

Location: City of North Augusta, SC
Salary: $23.24 - $27.88 / hour

General Statement for the Tree Technician Position

Under general supervision, performs varied manual work in the maintenance and care of the City's Trees for the Public Services Department.  Work involves, planting, cutting & pruning trees; ensures safety & health of the trees.   

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Conducts tree inspections on newly planted trees, correcting any defiencies found such as pruning, watering, etc. as needed.  

Performs soil fracturing and root feeding through the the use of the " Air Fracturing / De-compaction / Feeding Trailer System.

Collect tree data and enters it into the city Tree Plotter tree inventory system.  Suggests tre pruning cycles, maintains tree maintenance records for the Tree City USA re-certification.

Performs all functions of the intergrated pest management program, scheduling, inspections, and maintaing records.

Demonstrates proficiency with products and techniques used to maintain tree health.

Maintains proper tree height clearance above sidewalks, roadways, and signs for all trees.

Repairs and secures tree limbs and branches with cabling and bracing as needed.

Maintains mulched tree rings fro street trees.

Maintains all related tree care equipment.

Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and vehicles such as: bobcat, bucket truck, Towable Aerial Lift, water trailer, pruning equipment, air spade, HTI-2000 Soil Injection System, and an AT_RS 2500 De-compaction / Feed System.

Uses a variety of tools and supplies, such as soil probe,  Verizon tablet, fertilizer nutrients, compressed air, & stalite rock, etc.
