APTCC 2019 Wins Best Event of the Year Award


The ISA 2019 Asia-Pacific Tree Climbing Championship (APTCC) was awarded the Best Event of the Year Award on 5 December 2019 by the 2019 Asia Pacific (APAC) Association Awards.

The award recognizes New Zealand Arboriculture Association’s contribution to the successful event held 5-7 April at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens in Christchurch, New Zealand. More than 1,700 visitors, local and international, attended the event.

According to a press release written by the association, the APAC Association Awards is the biggest annual awards event of its kind, celebrating excellence in the association community around Asia Pacific, recognizing professionals, teams, and association initiatives for their outstanding achievements and best practices.

APAC described APTCC 2019 as a successful international level sporting event that not only helped get the community of Christchurch involved, it increased “appreciation of the importance of the importance of Christchurch’s tree assets and their benefits to the communities the serve.”

Jaiden Palmer, president of New Zealand Arboriculture Association said to get this international recognition for an arboriculture industry event is fantastic.

“We are honored to have hosted this prestigious international event in New Zealand and especially proud of all those who got involved in making it so special, especially the efforts of the 66 volunteers behind the scenes,” he said.

APTCC 2019 included market stalls, public education booths and free activities all designed to entertain, engage and educate visitor on the importance of enjoying, appreciating and properly caring for the trees using a qualified arborist.
