The public review period is now open for the ANSI A300 Standards, which are the generally accepted industry standards for tree care practices. These are voluntary industry consensus standards developed by TCIA and written by a committee called the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) A300, whose mission is to develop consensus performance standards based on current research and sound practice for writing specifications to manage trees, shrubs, and other woody plants.

The ISA serves as a voting member of the A300 committee, seeking to represent the perspective of ISA’s members and credential holders in the drafting of these standards. 

The A300 Standards, which currently are published in ten parts, are being consolidated into a single document, much like the Z133 Arboriculture Safety Standards. A link to download the draft standard for review can be found here. The same page includes instructions for those wishing to make an official public comment. Additionally:

• All official comments must be made online, using the web form located here.
• After you click the link, you will be asked to log in before you can submit comments.
• New users will need to register with TCIA first, by clicking the "Create a New Account" link under the login.
• Comments must be filed before the deadline of 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on February 13, 2023 in order to be considered. No exceptions will be made for late comments.
• Alternatively, if you do not need an official response from the ANSI-accredited A300 Committee, you may provide comments directly to your A300 committee representative. Any comments for ISA’s A300 Committee representative, Rhonda Wood, can be sent to eps@isa-arbor.com.
