An important update has been made in the December issue of Arborist News correcting errors found in the article “The Campus Forest: A Special Place Within the Urban Forest.” The changes affect page 24 regarding the cited study by Schmitt-Harsh (2019). Tree climbing competitions (TCC) are a staple of the tree care industry, and, just as tree climbing techniques and equipment have advanced over the years, so have the competitions. Today, competitions not only provide educational opportunities for arborists, they also encourage the use of industry safety standards and best practices, create an environment that allows educational interactions between tree care industry professionals, educate the public about the industry and create positive public exposure for the profession.

On 4 March 2020 the Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition (SUFC) will host its 15th Annual Meeting at The University of Virginia Darden Center in Arlington, Virginia.
